THIM offers a small-scale, enterprising and, above all, practical program. You can complete the program in three and a half or four years. THIM offers small groups, plenty of support and housing for international students. Internships can either be done in the Netherlands or abroad. You can schedule a non-binding (e-)intake, in which we can answer any questions
THIM's full-time program is small scale and hands-on. We will train you to be an enterprising and forward-thinking physiotherapist.
Our full-time programme consists of eight modules: five physiotherapy modules, two internship modules and the minors. Below, you will find a learning overview of each module.
Module 1 - The starting physiotherapist (Year 1)
You start with the fundamentals of physiotherapy and develop a vision of health.
Module 2 - Musculoskeletal (Year 1)
After this module, you will be able to examine and treat patients with various musculoskeletal complaints.
Module 3 - Rehabilitation (Year 2)
This module focuses on the rehabilitation of neurological disorders and chronic diseases.
Module 4 - Physiotherapeutic conduct (Year 2)
The emphasis of this module focusses on integrated physiotherapeutic activities. A professional communicates at a high level, motivates, makes informed decisions, treats effectively, evaluates and sees the patient as a human being.
Module 5 - The integration to clinical practice (Year 3)
After completing this module, you will be ready to start your major internship. The purpose of this module is integrating your skills into the daily agenda of the physiotherapist, which is filled with a wide variety of health problems and tasks.
Minor program (Year 3)
The minor programs are meant to broaden and deepen your knowledge. Every year, we look at what the trend topics in physical therapy are and adjust our minor programs accordingly. In a semester, you usually follow four minors on four different subjects.
Major internship (Year 4)
During your first internship, you will put your acquired knowledge and skills into practice, either in the Netherlands or abroad. In addition, you work on assignments that show that a number of the physiotherapist's tasks can increasingly be entrusted to you. THIM helps you to find a suitable internship.
Graduation internship 2 (Year 4)
In the second senior internship, you develop towards an independent healthcare professional. You will be working more and more independently with patients and you will have to complete assignments that show that you can be fully trusted with all tasks of a professional physiotherapist. You will be supervised by a THIM lecturer and your internship supervisor. Together we will monitor your progress in this crucial phase of your studies.
Do you already have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree? If so, you may be entitled to an exemption from the minor program. With an exemption you can accelerate your study program and reduce your study costs.
We want you to feel at home on campus and build a strong relationship with fellow students and lecturers. We are convinced that this increases the enjoyment and motivation and therefore the chance of success. With us you won’t feel like one of the many. You are in a class of a maximum of 24 students, you have a fixed timetable and you’ll be taught by a small group of lecturers.
Each week we organize facultative reinforcement education. Theoretical and practical lecturers are available for you to answer individual questions. You can also practice with your group, and ask for instant feedback. If your class would like to have a more in-depth look at a subject, you can make an appointment for a tutoring session with a lecturer.
Sometimes you need some extra support to reach your goals. THIM offers that support. Our study counsellor monitors your progress and will periodically invite you for a chat. Furthermore, you can join our facultative reinforcement education, and you can also count on us if you suffer from e.g. dyslexia or ADHD. At any time you can come and use our study- and practice facilities.
The theoretical and practical classes for full-time students take place from Monday to Thursday. They are scheduled from 9.30 to 15.30h, either in school or in our virtual classroom. The planning of the internships will be done in consultation with the internship address.
